These drive plates provide the necessary surface for friction material to grab against inside the clutch basket. Heat is the primary enemy here. Warped plates cause the bike to creep while in gear with the lever pulled. Inspect for grooving or heat spots during every top-end service or oil change if the clutch feels vague. Replacing these individually allows you to maintain the correct total stack height within the pressure plate's operating range. Clean all surfaces thoroughly before installation to ensure smooth engagement and consistent power delivery to the rear wheel.
