The cross-spec rubber runs thicker than standard, which is what you want when your kid is landing flat off the doubles or pinging roots on a woods loop. Junior bikes punch above their weight on impact, and a road-pattern tube splits at the valve base inside a season. Angled 34G valve clears the rim hole cleanly on small-wheel 85 rims. Fit it dry of grit, dust the bead with soap, snug the valve nut finger-tight only. Carry a spare in the van.
