What it is

The starter drive, or bendix, is the mechanical link between your starter motor and the flywheel. It sits within the ignition cover and engages only when the starter button is pressed. Dirt and old grease often cause these to stick, preventing the gear from retracting or engaging properly. This replacement ensures crisp engagement without the grinding noise associated with worn teeth. Clean the housing thoroughly before installation and apply a light coat of specialist lubricant to the shaft. This is a model-specific fitment for Polaris machines.
