These petals are critical for maintaining primary compression in your two-stroke engine. They sit inside the reed cage and act as one-way valves for the fuel-air mixture. Over time, petals lose their tension or begin to fray at the edges, leading to hard starting and a muddy throttle feel. Inspect these every time you have the top-end apart for a piston change. These replacement petals offer a quicker response than standard versions. Ensure the cage mating surface is perfectly clean before installation to prevent air gaps.
