This intake guide is pressed into the cylinder head to keep the valve stem perfectly centred. Cast iron is chosen for its excellent oil retention and durability in standard engines. If your bike is smoking on startup or losing compression, the guide bore may be out of tolerance. Proper installation requires heating the head to expand the bore for a clean press-fit. Once installed, the guide provides a stable path for the intake charge. Always check the valve-to-guide clearance during your rebuild to prevent premature stem wear or seizing.
