What it is

This steel drive unit mounts to the output shaft of the gearbox. It is a sacrificial part that bears the brunt of the engine's torque and abrasive trail debris. Inspect the tooth profile for hooking during your regular maintenance schedule. If you are dropping a tooth to gain more punch in tight sections, check that your chain guide and sliders are not excessively worn. Clean the shaft splines before fitting the new part to ensure a precise fit. Always use a new circlip or lock washer to ensure the part remains secure.
