Akrapovic builds full systems and slip-ons in titanium and stainless, with hand-welded headers and hex or conical silencers. Wall thicknesses stepped through the collector, hydroformed bends, sintered end-cap rivets. The dyno trace shows a fatter midrange and a cleaner top-end pull, not a peaky spike. Common questions, straight answers. No fluff.
- Check the fitment guide against your model year. The headers are mandrel-bent to specific frame geometries, and rear cans are sized to sit clear of the subframe rails and radiator braces. Get the wrong year and the mid-pipe will foul the shock linkage.
- For pure trail use a slip-on gets you most of the sound and a chunk of the weight saving. The full system earns its price when you ride technical ground that rewards mid-range response. Header and muffler are tuned together, so gas flow lifts torque where you actually use it: cracking the throttle out of a rut, lofting the front over a root. If your riding is fire-road cruising, save the money. If you ride goat tracks, fit the lot.
- Inspect packing every 15 to 20 hours of hard riding. Tinny exhaust note or hot spots on the can mean the wadding has burnt out. Fresh packing holds backpressure and keeps the outer sleeve off the heat.
- Yes on a full system. The freer-flowing header shifts the AFR lean, and a lean 4T cooks valves and exhaust ports fast. A slip-on usually runs safely on stock mapping. Either way, a fuel module or ECU flash matched to the pipe is cheap insurance against burnt valves.
- Titanium runs lighter and sheds heat faster. The weight comes off high on the bike, so the bike turns in quicker and changes direction with less effort. It corrodes well against mud and pressure-wash salt. Expect a blue heat tint on the header after a few sessions — that's the metal behaving normally, not failure. Stainless costs less and takes crash impacts better. Pick titanium for racing, stainless for a daily trail bike.
- Usually yes on slip-ons. Full systems with a different header diameter need the matched carbon shield from the same kit. Check clearance to the rear plastics and your right boot before the first ride.
